The "happiness is drumming" you referred to is actually from the Auditorium Theater 06/28/76 second set between Eyes < Jam > Wharf Rat.

I recall those four shows and that evening in particular as we were dancing and looking at each other during "happiness" with "shit-eating" grins trying to imagine what new song this Jam/Rhythm was, would evolve? and then it eventually dropped into Wharf Rat, oh well.

The following spring brought the fulfillment of that promise to us on May 13th, 1977 in Chicago at The Auditorium Theater with the introduction of Scarlet Begonias > Fire on the Mountain to close out the first set. Good stuff indeed.

I believe Mr. Chowlie has the soundboard of 06/28/76 and is in the process of a remaster.

Dark Starz - just gave it another listen, the big tip-off was in Charlie Miller's notes for the show. There is a slight but distinct jam in the Happiness Is Drumming theme right in the middle of Playing In The Band. I found it goes on from nearly 14:00 - 14:30. It is mostly Phil playing the line, and perhaps a drum beat is there,(must be) but pretty hidden in a real jazzy jam. I don't even think it's touched by Jerry, Bobby or Kieth - they are way out there in some other quadrant of the galaxy.

You're right about the only full version being on the 28th and how cool that must have been seeing each others faces while this was happening, reflecting back each other's own magic moment unfolding. I'm sure I've heard that tune from the 28th, may have streamed the aud. before, but something makes me feel like I had my own copy once before, but can't find it on my hard drive, so not sure, could have been a cassette, but not sure. Looking forward to Charlie Miller's transfer. I really love summer 1976 shows, and it was because of these cassettes I had from early on. Really reminds me of a warm sunny afternoon just about every time I hear one. Except for some strange reason, the Orpheum shows from July - I seem to set those apart in another department in my mind. Strange..

I missed the jam, too. I've had the AUD but don't think I've ever listened to it, so I pulled out this new sbd and listened to the show last night-great stuff and it sounds great (love that Crazy Fingers!)-and I had read that there was a HIDrumming jam, but I didn't hear it. I think I was expecting something more developed along the lines of 6/28. Thank you for posting the minute mark where it happens, I'll have to go back and check it out. You don't have to ask me twice to relisten to one of those sweet, unique 76 Playin's.

Oh, and where is this post Miller made about what is on his desktop? I must have missed that one, too. I'd love to see it.
:edit: nevermind, I just found it...
